Niger
After the holding of general and local elections for the 2020-2021 electoral cycle, as well as the swearing in of elected authorities, EISA continued to support the EMB (CENI) and the Media Regulator (CSC) in Niger in terms of post-electoral activities.
EISA has initiated a vast program to strengthen the technical capacities of the agents of these structures in order to make them more efficient in their tasks. While these actions for the benefit of the CENI and the CSC arise in a context much less marked by the COVID 19 pandemic, as has been the case over the past two years, it is important to note that the security context still remains a major challenge.
This new project entitled " Projet d’Appui à la Pérennisation des Acquis de la Commission Electorale Nationale Indépendante (CENI) et du Conseil Supérieur de la Communication (CSC) du Niger (PAP – CENI/CSC) 2022 - 2025 receives funding of the European Union.
This project having as target groups and as the CENI and the CSC and as final beneficiaries, the political parties, the media, the electorate, the Parliament and, in general, the population of Niger, proposes two axes of intervention.
Axis 1: Institutional support for capacity building and institutional consolidation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) as a permanent electoral administration.
Axis 2: Institutional support for capacity building and institutional consolidation of the Superior Council of Communication (CSC) in its role as a regulatory body, including during the election period.
Our Goal.
The professionally organized and functioning CENI and CSC lay the groundwork for the holding of future, free, transparent, credible and peaceful elections in Niger
Project Objectives
Like the previous project, the action is based on the principles of the Paris Declaration on ownership, alignment, harmonization, results-based management and mutual accountability, while being part of the approach based on human rights, with a view to contributing to the reduction of discrimination and promoting the equal participation of all in the political and electoral process.
