EISA was established in 1996 and has a vision of Africa where democratic governance, human rights and citizen participation are upheld peacefully.
2022 KENYA ELECTIONS
EISA has deployed a full-fledged short-term Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the 2022 Kenya General Elections comprised of 21 Short-term observers (STOs), mainly drawn from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and academia from across the continent.
Headed by Goodluck Jonathan, former President of Nigeria, and his deputy Baïdessou Soukolgué, EISA's Executive Director, observers will be deployed in ten counties in all regions.
EISA CENTRAL AFRICAN REGION
EISA supported the Economic Community of Central African State (ECCAS) in convening a technical retreat from May 09 to 11 to review the draft guidelines for election observation and the draft principles of democratic elections.
SUPPORTING TRANSITIONS AND ELECTORAL PRACTISES
EISA hosted a regional workshop for political parties from Great Lakes, east and Southern Africa region in order to review its “Benchmarks for enhanced political party performance for democratic governance in Africa”.
EISA Madagascar, led by Country Representative, Mr Valdiodio Ndiaye, recently paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Commission Electorale Nationale Independante (CENI), Mr Retaf Arsène Andrianarisedo Dama.
The Somalia 2021 Election Update was set up to provide regular and reliable election related information for the Somali elections.
